Jardinieres- Enabling some privacy, while still allowing light to enter the room, is the effect provided by these types of curtains. These have a distinct shape to them that creates a more elegant appearance than other types of thin curtains. There is a gentle arch in the middle, making the sides hand down a bit longer than the rest of the curtain, but this window covering only takes up part of the window. Usually, four different widths are available for this type of curtain, enabling them to fit most types of windows. Cafe Curtains- There isn’t a whole lot of privacy had with these curtains, but these aren’t generally chosen for that purpose anyway. This type of curtain is used more to add a bit of flair to a plain window. It dresses it up just enough, while not hindering the view of the outside. These curtains fill the width of the window, but aren’t very long. Placing two of these side by side will make a fuller display and some people prefer to fill the window more by hanging one curtain above the other. Net/Voiles- Using these to diffuse the light entering a room is most common, but they can also be placed over existing curtains to add contrast.
Off the rack curtains though are inexpensive, but they are available in limited colours and patterns. These curtains are poorly made, and offer a temporary solution to decor your living room. On the other hand, custom made curtains are expensive because of the good chosen fabric, and proper lining style. These curtains take time to be completed, but once they are ready and hanged, they make your room attractive and unique. The lining feature enhances the life of these curtains; you can enjoy seeing them for a long time. Adding lining to your curtains is something very important. If you are living in a cold area, thermal lining should be added. Although it will increase the cost of curtains, but it will stop the energy escaping your home, and it will also increase the life of your curtains by protecting them from the sun. If you are living in a sunny area, sun rays can be harmful for your curtains. It is wise to add cotton lining to your curtains to protect them from sun. It will reduce the amount of sunlight entering the room, thus save the items like carpet and furniture from fading. For warm countries with lot of sunshine throughout the year, opaque lining keeps out any unwanted light.
